2023 Guide to Swimming Lessons

About Pleasant Grove Swim Lessons

Pleasant Grove City is now a fully endorsed and certified Starfish Swim Lesson training facility. Our program consists of 3 Swim Lesson Programs. Splashing babies (parent and child), swim school (Swimming Skills), and stroke school (Focuses on independent Strokes and Technique). Not only do swimmers in our program learn swimming skills, but they also learn Safety skill Benchmarks at each level. Please use the description on the back of this form to place your child in the appropriate course. During the first class of each session, we will divide the students by ability and age to allow your child to learn the best he/she can.

Parent Observation

We love for the parents to watch and support their children; however, we ask that you stay on the grass or carpeted area. Parents and Children are NOT allowed in the water if they are not registered for swim lessons. Not following the rules makes it hard for lifeguards to see the students and may distract participants.

Progression of classes

Advancement to the next level is determined based on exit skills. When these can be performed, a child will move to the next level. Every child is different and will learn at their own pace. It is not uncommon for a child to repeat a level. For further questions, please see the swim coordinator.

Helping your child Progress

At the end of each session, a card will be handed out with the skills taught in that session. This allows you as the parent to know what they are learning and allow you to practice with them. The more they practice the faster they will progress.

Pool Rules

There are lifeguards during swimming lessons and to provide a safe environment all pool rules will be enforced. This also allows children to learn the rules before public swim.

Class Rules

Please wait for your teacher at the designated spot marked by a yellow cone with your level on it. You must be respectful of the teacher and other children.

Swim Diapers

To those who are under 3 or are not fully toilet trained swim diapers are required along with a plastic cover. Diapers may be purchased at the front desk. Due to health concerns diapers must be changed in the locker room.

Questions and Concerns

For all questions or concerns please talk to either the Aquatics Program Manager or the Swim Lesson Coordinator. They can be reached at 801-785-9660 or found on deck during swim lessons.
