Engineering with LEGO® Materials
Class Overview
Who wouldn’t want to escape and play in the world of magic, fairytales, and royalty? In Snapology’s Castles, Kingdoms, and Wizards program, students will have the opportunity to use LEGO® bricks to design their medieval fantasies while also bringing the real history to life! Yes, your student will do more than just build with LEGO® bricks, they will build their historical understanding of the unique elements that make the medieval time period such a fascinating point in human history.
What Your Child Wlll Learn
History
In each lesson, students will take their understanding of medieval history and expand
upon that knowledge by discussing the influences of the time. They will examine topics
such as the significance and symbolism of royalty and knighthood, how social status
influenced access to tools and transportation, the purpose and evolution of castles,
and how the understanding and reception of magic has changed over time. This class
is packed with historical investigations and your child is likely to walk away a young
history buff!
Engineering
In the process of building epic castle entrances, crowns that are fit for royalty,
or transportation that can get you to the next kingdom, students will be challenged
to design items that can stand up and hold together well. With each new building challenge,
children will learn building and engineering strategies that will improve their natural
engineering choices in the future.
Creativity
Snapology’s Castles, Kingdoms, and Wizards program encourages students to embrace
their imagination and create familiar items with a unique, personalized twist. By
using visual aids, holding creative classroom brainstorming sessions, and providing
basic building parameters, students will be supported as they take creative risks
and guided when they aren’t sure what to build next.
Presentation Skills & Cooperative Play
Presenting in front of others can be a stressful and overwhelming experience for young
children, but our program aims to help your child feel more comfortable when presenting
in front of a class by having each child explain their builds to their peers in a
safe and supportive way. Presenting theircreations will help with their confidence
in front of others and will translate into their everyday self-assurance in the classroom.

Throughout this course, your child will complete a combination, if not all, of the following lessons, builds and activities:
- The Royals
- Knights
- Wizards and Witches
