Our Beautiful Yards and Gardens Workshop Series

The Beautification Commission is excited to announce their new Beautiful Yards and Gardens Workshop Series for PG residents wishing to increase their knowledge and skills for their gardens and yards. This series is offered for free to PG residents, but does require an RSVP. Each class will have a drawing for gardening door prizes and refreshments. Each class will start at 7pm and will be taught by Master Gardeners of PG. Come enjoy learning and fun with your neighbors!

Preparing Your Vegetable Garden Spaces

Having a great growing season can be determined by the first few weeks of work that you put into your garden space by preparing your soil, water system, seed beds, and transplants properly. Come learn how to start the growing season right and boost the productivity and lower the maintenance of your gardening space. You will love the results!!

Colorful Waterwise and Native Plants

One of the most asked questions on yards is “what should I plant”. Come learn how to identify the right plants for your space, soil, and water needs. We will be covering options for color, bloom time, waterwise, native, and size when it comes to choosing plants for your yard. There are so many great options!

Lawns, Beautiful Lawns

If you have struggled with knowing how to keep your lawn lush, green, and healthy, this is the class for you. We will be covering how to overcome many tough lawn issues including bad soil, burn spots, bugs and diseases, fertilization, and how to just have the best darn lawn on the block!

Weeds: Controlling and Eliminating

Gardeners love to grow things, but they also love to kill certain things…WEEDS! This class will cover how to prevent weeds, minimize weeds and eliminate weeds. Knowing how to do this properly in your vegetable gardens, your flowerbeds, and in your lawns will make you yards beautiful and the backbreaking work a lot easier.

Harvesting and Storing Your Bounty

So you have had a great growing season and now you are wondering what to do with all your bounty. Come learn the multiple ways of harvesting and storing your garden produce. From drying to pickling, from canning to freezing, we will be covering it all. You will be amazed at how many ways you can use and store your harvest!

Putting Yards and Gardens to Bed for The Winter

We love to garden, but by the end of the season, we all really enjoy putting everything away and enjoying a break. In this class, you will learn how to put your gardens and yards to bed in the fall in ways that will minimize he work needed in the spring. Come learn how you can end the season easily and make for a great start to the next season.
