C.E.R.T. Training

Community Emergency Response Team C.E.R.T

Pleasant Grove City will be sponsoring a C.E.R.T (Community Emergency Response Team) training.  A March 2012 CERT Spring session will begin on Tuesday, March 27th at 6:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M and will continue as follows: Thursday, March 29th 6:00 – 10:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 3rd 6:00 P.M. -10:00 P.M. Thursday, April 5th 6:00 – 10:00 P.M. and Saturday, April 7th 8:00 A.M. -Noon. An October 2012 CERT Fall session will begin on Tuesday, November 6th 7:00 P.M. -10:00 P.M.(Due to voting) Thursday, November 8th 6:00 P.M. -10:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 13 6:00 P.M. -10:00 P.M. Thursday, November 15th 6:00 P.M. -10:00 P.M. and Saturday, November 17th 8:00 A.M. -Noon. Classes will be held at the Pleasant Grove Public Safety Building, 87 East 100 South, Pleasant Grove, UT.  The following topics will be taught over the four day training sessions:

• Disaster Preparedness
• Disaster Fire Suppression
• Disaster Medical Operations Part I
• Disaster Medical Operations Part II
• Light Search & Rescue
• Disaster Psychology and Team Organization
• Disaster Training Exercise

You will be required to attend all five scheduled classes and complete  all seven modules  to complete the C.E.R.T certification

The C.E.R.T. program is two-fold.   It is designed to prepare for and respond to the needs of yourself, your family and your neighbors in a catastrophic disaster situation and to also act as an extension of emergency services in such an event.

Please register before March 20, 2012 for the Spring session and before October 30, 2012 for the Fall session at the Pleasant Grove Police Department between 8:00 – 5:00 P.M.  Cost of the training is $40.00. (Make checks payable to Pleasant Grove Police Department).  The registration fee will include the costs for safety equipment and training materials. You will receive a CERT student manual upon receipt of your $40.00 payment and completed application.  Please read the information in the manual prior to the beginning of the first training session on Tuesday, March 27th.

There will be three different dates for Refresher Training classes for previously certified CERT members. These will two hour sessions to be held on the following dates:

All refresher courses will be held at the Pleasant Grove Police Department training room.  There is no charge for CERT members.  Pre-registration is required one week before the class date.  Please pre-register at the Pleasant Grove Police Department, (801)785-3506.
