Mayor & City Council
Mayor's Message

2012 promises to be an outstanding year for Pleasant Grove. We have two new members of the city council who you voted into office last November, and we expect remarkable service from them and the rest of the council as we work to make every facet of life in our community even better than before.
We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our prior council. Thanks to their commitment to fiscal responsibility, Pleasant Grove City is on solid financial footing, operating on a balanced budget without dipping into reserves. Beyond the outgoing council, there are two additional reasons for our current financial stability: the first is the extraordinary work by our employees, from the crews working our streets and parks to our amazing office staff and department directors. These people dedicate untold hours in service to our citizens, squeezing every dollar and leveraging every resource to maintain the highest level of service. I regularly receive notes of thanks and commendation from our residents who recognize the contribution of our employees.
The other reason for our solid fiscal position is the new business we've seen come to Pleasant Grove. Quietly but consistently, new enterprises have been joining our community and adding to our economic base. We have more businesses on Main Street than we've seen in decades. The Grove area near the freeway has continued to bring in new companies, adding 2,000 jobs in the past few years. As a council member said recently, "While other communities are cutting jobs, Pleasant Grove is cutting ribbons."
As we begin this new year of 2012, we fully expect to continue this path of welcoming more and more business neighbors into our community, strengthening our financial foundation and having a positive impact on our city.
